Yellowstone Bourbon has long been relegated to background trash status. Yellowstone, one of the many whiskey labels from the liquor giant Luxco, is also one of the oldest bourbon brands and dates back to 1872, the year the national park of the same name was founded. Since Luxco’s partial acquisition of the Lebanon-Kentucky-based Limestone Branch Distillery in 2014, the two companies have worked hard to rehabilitate the brand, producing two high-end whiskeys so far.

I can’t escape the idea that Knob Creek or something has ended. The more tender dark fruits don’t show up here, and it takes a little searching to find lighter red grapes and blueberries, but it’s moderate at best. With a little candied ginger, this Armagnac finish gives a delicious extra dose of fruitiness as well as additional viscosity and body. Armagnac’s finish seems to add dark citrus, vanilla, and dark berries and cherries.

Yellowstone Select Bourbon 109 Proof Brlsel 750ml

In 1872, the Yellowstone Bourbon was made in honor of the park’s great historical wonder and pioneering spirit. We hope you enjoy drinking our national treasure as much as we enjoy distilling. This is a delicious workhorse bourbon with enough complexity, flavor, and balance that the Yellowstone boys could mistake a heavy drinker every day. The current release is delicious, but I’m also excited to see what the future holds for Limestone Branch’s own promotions and the promise they deliver.

While it’s not necessarily a bad thing, it does mean that Yellowstone Select is a bourbon that is difficult to distinguish from the plethora of other average bourbons on the market. The resulting pour is a bourbon that, compared to its older siblings with an exotic finish, is closer to 1792 Small Batch or Woodford Reserve Distiller’s Select. This edition is a mixture of bourbons aged 7 and 12 years, which are refined in roasted wine barrels. Yellowstone Select Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 750ml. This drink is a masterful fusion of the flavors of the seventh generation of distillers Paul and Steve Beam. Contains a carefully selected mix of sweet, spicy and smoky bourbons.

The 2021 edition of Yellowstone Limited offers a mix of seven- and fifteen-year-old bourbons, with some of the seven-year-olds being refined in Amarone wine barrels. Currently, the inventory used in its Yellowstone line by Bourbons and Minor Case Rye is sourced through Luxco before being refined and blended at the Lebanon distillery. Consists of in Yellowstone Select Bourbon plans for their own whiskey released as a 6-year bottled-in-bond slated for mid-2021, with a wheat bourbon with old family notes dating from around 2025. Limestone Branch’s current portfolio to be released an annual Release of Yellowstone Limited Edition, Minor Case Rye Whiskey, and Bowling & Burch Gin. He’s drinking a little hotter than his evidence 93 suggests, but that’s certainly due to a lot of rye that I suspect is in the mix of bourbon stocks that go into the final mix.

Yellowstone Selection

It is not very fruity, moderate in the upper range, but it is a nice addition to the base bourbon. I think this shouldn’t come as a surprise, but this Yellowstone bourbon has a moderately dry and herbaceous-nutty taste. Given Yellowstone’s connection to Jim Beam, this bourbon could be Jim Beam’s 7 year old bourbon, though there’s a chance it was from Heaven Hill.

Like US wildlife agencies bringing wolves back to their natural habitat, Luxco returned the Yellowstone brand to the family that created it in the first place. And everyone went to work to restore the brand to its former glory. As of 2015, they released great annual limited editions and in 2016 they released that core phrase, Yellowstone Select. In my mouth I like it more and more, with every sip I take. Again there is a lot of red fruit, with lighter top notes and darker, more confusing and concentrated notes, but also nice citrus notes. I get caramel, vanilla, and a nice flavorful ginger hit on the palate which made this seem a bit flavorful in the first few sips for Test 101, but that ethanol / flavorful suggestion was mastered.

Yellowstone Select Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey (straight Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey)

At first the finish is sweet, nutty and dry with caramel, citrus, vanilla, grassy nuts, oak and a little mint. After “chewing” the finish is very nutty and sweet with the characteristic nutty funk of beam, honey, oak tannins, citrus fruits, vanilla and just a little mint and cocoa. But to be honest, even though I enjoy this limited edition Yellowstone, I’m still not that impressed because it doesn’t have any standout features and generally falls flat on even a fairly wide range of flavors. The flavors of the Yellowstone 2020 Limited Edition Bourbon take it one step further, with a bigger explosion of caramel, citrus, vanilla, and dark berries, followed by toasted oak, cinnamon, cloves, and a bit of peppermint. The Armagnac finish definitely adds to the fruity taste that is less present in the Jim Beam, Knob Creek or Booker base (assuming it comes from Beam).

When the bourbon settles, the dark fruits, mostly cherries and berries, reappear. It’s not a huge fruity presence, but it’s noteworthy enough since Jim Beam / Heaven Hill Bourbon isn’t that fruity in general (assuming I’m right about the source). The second time, the Armagnac finish seems to add a softer vanilla marshmallow, a round, smooth dark sweetness, and a bit more body to the flavors, so I’d say the goal present enough is to convey the time, but not quite . As I mentioned earlier, each release is a different age, and this year’s release uses a 7 year old bourbon with a 101 proof test.

How Do You Drink Yellowstone Bourbon?

It contains a carefully selected blend of 4- and 7-year-old Bourbons for an exclusive, small-batch whiskey that honors its deep family origins. Kentucky – Bottled at 109 Proof, the Yellowstone Hand Picked Collection is a one-of-a-kind single barrel bourbon. It contains a carefully selected blend of sweet, tangy and smoky bourbons, each selected to give this signature whiskey a flavor that celebrates its deep family origins. This delicious bourbon has enough complexity, taste and balance.

Yellowstone Limited Edition 2020 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey 750ml. This edition contains 7 year old Small Batch Bourbon, which is refined in French Armagnac barrels. The barrels add notes of caramel, caramel and chocolate that complement the flavors of the bourbon. The Yellowstone Bourbon Limited Edition term has been an anticipated release from Limestone Brand since 2015.

Unfortunately, it’s not a $ 100 bourbon as the combination of a 7 year old bourbon + an Armagnac finish creates a good, but not exceptional, level of complexity, depth, and richness that should be expected from a bourbon like this one. The finish of Armagnac seems to add layers of dark sweetness, toasted vanilla and dark berries, which makes it smell and taste finer, although it feels like the finish is catching up as it is bottled. Ultimately, nothing stands out in a way that is memorable or makes me say “wow”. My best description of Yellowstone Limited Edition 2020 Bourbon is that it is a finished Knob Creek Small Batch, or Baker’s 7 Year, with all of Beam’s signature grassy and nutty flavor.

Not a lot of alcohol at first, but when I drink it goes up a bit. After spinning, the nutty cabbage and sweet roasted corn come first, no doubt from Jim Beam or Heaven Hill Bourbon. The nuttiness is followed by citrus honey, lightly burnt vanilla, baked apples with cinnamon and nutmeg, sweet malt and sprinkled with mint.
